Sometime at the end of January 2017 the Department of Education took down their fantastic comprehensive website dedicated to the IDEA (it was at idea.ed.gov). It has been replaced with a straight text of the law, whereas previously it was much more readable with a lot of associated documentation.

SpEdLaw is dedicated to making sure that as much documentation, information, guidance, and more is available to parents, advocates, educators and all who are involved with Special Education.

We have a link to the archived version of the previous IDEA site and other links about it on the IDEA page.

The 504 page contains a wonderful resource document that the Department of Education released in December 2016.

A local database with Dear Colleague Letters, Policy Letters and Memos from the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR), Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is here. This sister site has its own search engine as well.
